Zimbabwe braces for cold spell
The Meteorological Services Department (Zimbabwe) wishes to advise the public that very cold, windy and cloudy conditions are expected over the country from Tuesday 03 July and Sunday 03 July 2018.
Much of the week is expected to be cold, windy becoming progressively cloudy from the southern parts of the country. This is due to significant pressure rises (central pressure more than 1034 hPa) along the south-east coast of Southern Africa expected to start affecting the country from Tuesday evening.
As, such Matabeleland South, southern areas of the Midlands (Zvishavane to Gweru), Masvingo Province and Manicaland Province
Should start out being sunny and relatively warmer, becoming cold and windy by Tuesday afternoon, with brief cloudy periods towards evening.
From Wednesday morning onward, it is expected to be very cold and cloudy with strong winds coupled with light rain and drizzle in places. (Reduced chance of Ground frost)
Mashonaland East Provinces, northern parts of the Midlands, Harare and Bulawayo Metropolitan Province.
Sunny and relatively warm conditions should dominate the first half of the week, with cold mornings and nights. As from Wednesday evening, a marked shift should be noted as the cold breeze should begin affecting these areas. This should be followed by intermittent cloudy period and cooler conditions from Thursday morning till the end of the forecast period. Light drizzle may occur in places.
